Privacy Policy

How Blockread collects and uses information, your GDPR and similar privacy rights, legal bases for processing, cookies, international transfers, and how to contact us.

Privacy Policy

  • Who we are and scope

Blockread (the public blockchain explorer website, related pages, and connected services) is operated from Armenia. For the purposes of applicable data-protection law, including the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Blockread is the data controller responsible for personal data processed through this website and our directly connected services, unless we state otherwise. Contact: [email protected]. We do not require you to create an account to browse the public explorer. This policy describes what we may collect today and what we may collect as features change.

  • Information we may collect automatically

When you access Blockread, we and our infrastructure providers may automatically receive technical and usage information. Depending on how you use the site, this may include: pages viewed and features used; approximate location inferred from IP address; browser type, device type, operating system, screen size, and language settings; referring URL; date and time of requests; network and connection details; session or request identifiers; and server, application, or API logs (such as IP address, user agent, requested URLs, and error or security events).

  • Information when you use explorer features

Some features involve sending data from your browser or our servers to Blockread APIs or partner backends. For example: search queries (including block heights, transaction IDs, addresses, or script hashes); raw transaction data you submit for broadcast or decode; and real-time connection data when the site opens WebSocket or similar channels (including connections to Blockread infrastructure and, for certain chains, third-party realtime providers). Much of this information relates to public blockchain activity rather than traditional account profiles. We do not ask for your name or email to use these features unless you contact us.

  • Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to provide the service (for example, a language preference cookie such as NEXT_LOCALE, and application/session cookies). These are generally required for the site to function and, where applicable law distinguishes cookie types, may be used on the basis of our legitimate interests or legal necessity. We may also use browser storage such as local storage or session storage (for example, recent searches on your device or UI preferences). If we enable analytics, advertising, or other non-essential measurement tools, we will use cookies or similar technologies for those purposes only where permitted by law. In the EU, UK, and other jurisdictions that require it, we will ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies or similar technologies, rather than relying on continued browsing alone. You can also limit or delete cookies and site data through your browser settings.

  • Analytics and third-party processors

We may use web analytics, performance monitoring, or similar tools from third-party providers when enabled. Such tools may collect usage data through cookies, pixels, scripts, or similar technologies. We also use service providers (processors) for hosting, content delivery, blockchain indexing APIs, realtime data feeds, email, security, and other infrastructure. They process personal data on our instructions and under appropriate contractual safeguards where required. Each provider may also have its own privacy terms. We do not sell your personal information.

  • Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases: (1) Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, maintain, and improve Blockread, prevent abuse, understand aggregated usage, and communicate with you about the service, balanced against your rights; (2) Performance of a service / steps at your request — when you use features such as search, decode, or broadcast; (3) Consent — for non-essential cookies, analytics, or marketing where required by law, which you may withdraw at any time without affecting lawfully processed data before withdrawal; (4) Legal obligation — to comply with applicable law, regulatory requests, or court orders; (5) Vital interests or public interest — only where strictly required by law. We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

  • How we use and share information

We may use information for: providing and maintaining the explorer; processing searches, broadcasts, decodes, and API requests; delivering realtime updates; securing the service; diagnosing errors; analyzing trends; responding to your enquiries; enforcing our Terms of Use; and complying with law. We may share information with processors and affiliates that help us operate Blockread, professional advisers, or authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity. We may also share aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify you.

  • Retention and international transfers

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including: server and security logs typically for a limited operational period (often up to several months unless needed longer for security or legal reasons); support correspondence while relevant and as required by law; analytics data according to the tool’s settings when enabled; and browser-stored data until you clear it or it expires. Because we use global infrastructure, your information may be processed in Armenia and other countries where we or our providers operate. Where the GDPR requires safeguards for transfers outside the European Economic Area or UK, we rely on appropriate mechanisms such as adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, or other lawful transfer tools.

  • Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access your personal data; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion; restrict or object to certain processing; receive a portable copy of data you provided; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (for example, in your EU member state or with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office). To exercise rights, contact [email protected]. We may need to verify your request and may decline requests where an exemption applies. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (often one month under the GDPR). Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot be waived under mandatory law.

  • Children

Blockread is not directed at children under 16 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact [email protected] and we will take appropriate steps to delete it where required.

  • Changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or seek consent. Continued use after changes may constitute acceptance only to the extent permitted by applicable law. Questions or requests: [email protected]. [email protected]
